Q & A
Tell us about yourself? My name is Lindsay, and I'm the proud mother of one little adorable boy, Cole. This month he will be 5 months old. When I'm not taking care of him, I can be found at a local hospital in the intensive care unit as an acute care nurse practitioner (ACNP). Besides from being a mom and an ACNP, I enjoy skiing and traveling, both of which I have not been able to do very much of since discovering I was pregnant. However, both my fiance and I are very excited for the day we can put little Cole in skiing lessons!
What is your biggest challenge as a mom? The biggest challenge as a mom for me is finding enough time for everything. As a single woman, a target run is an easy thing. As a mother, a target run can take half the day! Breastfeeding was also a big challenge as well as a big time consumption. It seems like if I am not playing, bathing, or changing Cole I am either pumping or breastfeeding.
Along those same lines is finding enough time for yourself. For example, after work I try to hit the gym before picking Cole up from daycare. However, I often feel guilty and/or just want to see him that I often cut my workout short. That's why I always look forward to yoga with Angela because it combines the best of both worlds!
What is your favorite part about being a mom? My favorite part about being a mom is the unconditional love! I never knew this level of love was possible pre-baby. Now, I couldn't imagine my life without him!
What advice would you give to new moms? This one is hard because as a new mom all you get is advice (and half the time they contradict one another)! But it is important to listen to your mother's intuition and to just do what feels right for you. Unfortunately there is no manual for raising children, and no two children are alike. What is right for one mom may not be right for another. Try your hardest not to compare yourself to the Jones's.
Anyone who you would you like to thank that has helped you through motherhood? First, I am so grateful for my fiance, who is the best dad I could ever ask for. I couldn't imagine being on this journey without him. From him getting up in the middle of the night to taking Cole to daycare because I would be too emotional, I can't thank him enough. Cole's grandparents also deserve a big thanks for all the help with not only watching Cole when needed but also watching the puppy as well. And I can't forget my yoga family and girlfriends for always listening without judgment and offering different solutions to all the crazy mommy problems.
